Dr. Bonilla is an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and faculty affiliate at the Center for Student Success Research in the College of Education. Her work focuses on understanding transformational capacity of educational interventions and policies to improve outcomes for youth from marginalized communities. She utilizes quasi-experimental techniques to measure the casual impact of interventions, programs and policies on youth's educational and labor market outcomes. Bonilla completed her PhD in Economics of Education at the Stanford Graduate School of Education in 2019, where she was an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) pre-doctoral fellow and NAEd/Spencer Dissertation fellow. She also received a A.B. in Public Policy and Education Studies from Brown University, an A.M in Urban Education Policy from Brown University, and an M.A. in Economics from Stanford University.
