My research focuses on firm differentiation strategies, in particular, innovation and diversification. I use large panel data to investigate key drivers for technological innovation at the firm, such as inter-firm alliance networks, corporate governance designs (e.g., composition of director boards), and firm exploration in science. Relatedly, I study how technological and market-specific conditions influence firm decision to diversify into multiple product lines (i.e., sub-markets) and the performance outcomes of diversification.
