My research centers on understanding how market frictions influence firm strategies related to human capital and innovation. I investigate how firms can gain a competitive advantage from human capital in environments with market frictions, such as inefficiencies in labor and capital markets. I also explore how these frictions shape the gender gap in the managerial labor market, examining how they affect the promotion and career advancement of women. Additionally, my work examines at how market frictions impact innovation strategies, including the timing of research and development investments and the strategic delay of innovation. To address these questions, I use a range of empirical methods, including quasi-experimental designs, large-scale data analysis, and mobility studies, drawing on datasets that capture managerial careers, firm-level decisions, and market conditions.
