Join us for a dynamic and interdisciplinary seminar exploring how artificial intelligence is being used in social science research. This joint event will feature several short talks showcasing research at the intersection of AI and the social sciences. We’ll be hearing from Lauren McCarthy and Doug Rice (Legal Studies), Kevin Young (Economics), Brenda Bushouse (Public Policy), and Virginia Patridge (CDSAI - Data Core).
In addition, the seminar will highlight programming around AI in research on campus this year. Come and learn about opportunities to collaborate with CDSAI through its incubator for grant development, explore teaching, training, and research resources available through SBS for incorporating AI into your own work or curriculum, and hear about exciting opportunities with ISSR.
Whether you are already using AI in your research or just beginning to explore its potential, this seminar aims to offer useful lessons, and a chance to connect and find future research collaborations. All are welcome!
The event will be at 12-1:30pm on Oct. 24, 2025 at the ILC Communication Hub, room N301 (Integrative Learning Center, 3rd floor). It is multidisciplinary, hosted jointly by the Computational Social Science Institute (CSSI), the Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CDSAI), the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR), and the Strategic AI Speaker Series in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
