The Role of Opinion Leaders in Misinformation Spread on Social Media
Social media platforms enable users to gain status based on the engagement their posts receive. This research explores the consequences of sharing misinformation on social media, specifically focusing on its impact on users’ status within the platform. By analyzing discussion threads on Reddit, this study examines various engagement indicators to reveal how a user’s status influences their information sharing dynamics.
Soo Young Bae is an associate professor in the Department of Communication and a core faculty member of the DACSS program.
